About

In eastern Kentucky, where songwriting is revered as a high art form, Nicholas Jamerson's name is held in higher regard than even titans like Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers. The Eastern Kentucky native is a master songwriter and spectacular vocalist rooted in the Appalachian storytelling tradition, creating music that traces arcs from self-awareness to preservation of identity to present character.

Jamerson first gained attention as half of the Kentucky duo Sundy Best (2013-2016) with Kris Bentley, before pursuing a solo career that has fully revealed his songwriting depth. Now performing with his band The Morning Jays, Jamerson has released multiple albums, with his most recent work The Narrow Way representing his most mature and thoughtful collection to date.

The album features standout tracks like "How Sunday Feels" (co-written with producer Rachel Baiman), which was listed in Country Music France's 2025 Top 50, and "Sunday Dinners," a collaboration with his sister Emily Jamerson. The album showcases Jamerson's softer, more introspective side while creating a sonic tapestry of finding joy amidst contemporary life's struggles.

Jamerson's Appalachian country/folk stands apart from the rowdier sounds often associated with the region, instead focusing on thoughtful, evocative songwriting that honors Kentucky's elite songwriting tradition. Each song is carefully crafted with attention to emotional truth and musical nuance, making him essential listening for fans who appreciate substantive, literary songwriting in the Americana tradition. His work continues to influence a new generation of Kentucky songwriters while earning respect from the region's established artists.
